Gifting Opportunities
Sun Health Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees comprised of members from the West Valley. Gifts benefit Banner Boswell and Del E. Webb medical centers, Banner Sun Health Research Institute and other excellent nonprofit Arizona charity healthcare facilities. All gifts are directed exactly to benefit the Arizona charity facility designated by the donor.
Ways to Make a Gift to Sun Health Foundation
Your tax-deductible gift will make it possible to continue providing outstanding care to every patient from our Phoenix charity facilities and to enhance medical research that will help people in Arizona and around the world.

Outright Gifts
Support of Sun Health Foundation projects through outright contributions is essential for the community to continue to receive the quality Phoenix charity health care people have come to expect and deserve.
As a donor, gifts of cash, check and/or appreciated assets such as stocks or mutual funds allow you to enjoy a tax benefit while helping to fund healthcare facilities, equipment, tuition assistance and much more.
Charitable Gifts of Stock
Charitable gifts of stock held more than one year provide donors with a tax deduction of the full market value, and capital gains taxes on the appreciated asset are avoided. Your contribution can be designated to support the project of your choice. Electronic transfer of stocks from your brokerage account can be made by calling Sun Health Foundation at (623) 832-5330.
Charitable Gift Annuity
When you fund a Sun Health Foundation Arizona charity gift annuity with cash, securities or property, you receive fixed annuity payments of up to 9.8% based on your age (and the age of another beneficiary if one is designated). You also will be eligible to enjoy a tax deduction in the year the gift is made and carry over any unused portion over the next 5 years. Sun Health Foundation adheres to payment rates established by the American Council on Gift Annuities.
Tribute Gifts
Are a thoughtful way to acknowledge life's milestones while benefiting the nonprofit Phoenix charity healthcare facilities and services supported by Sun Health. Choose from:
- Honoring gifts to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, holiday or other special occasion, or as a way to say thank or I'm thinking of you.
- Memorial gifts to remember the life of someone who has passed on.
All tribute gifts are acknowledged with a personalized card sent to the person you are honoring or a family member of the deceased. At your request, for tribute gifts of $35 or more, a boxed silk rose will be sent along with the personalized card. Please call Sun Health Foundation at (623) 832-5330.
Gifts of Real Estate
A non-cash gift of a residence, commercial building or undeveloped land is a valuable donation that is carefully considered by Sun Health Foundation. Real estate donors are eligible to enjoy an Arizona charity tax-deduction for the appraised value of their gift.
For many people, a home represents their largest asset. Leaving a home to Sun Health Foundation through a beneficiary deed, will or trust is an excellent way to make a significant gift to healthcare. In some cases, the gift of a home may be used to fund a Phoenix charity gift annuity that provides lifelong income for one or two people. Through a retained life estate arrangement, you can make a gift of your home while retaining the use of the property for as long as you choose as well as claim a current tax deduction for a portion of the property's value.
Gifts of real estate are subject to review and approval in accordance with Sun Health Foundation's gift acceptance policies.
Gifts-in-Kind
Donors with items that can be used in one of our facilities or auctioned at a Sun Health Foundation event will receive a thank-you letter and tax receipt acknowledging the gift. Items not used as noted will be given to the Sun Health Resale Shops. Please call (623) 832-5330 if you have an item to donate.
Leaving a Legacy – Planned Gifts, including Trusts and Wills
By informing Sun Health Foundation of your intention to include us in your estate plans, you provide us the opportunity to thank you personally and clarify your wishes for the future use of your gift. We acknowledge your generosity by including you as a Legacy Leader.
