Wireless electronic keypads bringing high-tech fun to ‘One Hip Party!’

It’s a dilemma guests of many social functions have unfortunately faced.  A competitor stands hovering around that silent auction item you’ve coveted, pen in hand and obviously ready to pounce.  Your first reaction is to race over and immediately top their bid, but the friend you haven’t seen in ages is sharing a funny story, the waiter just refreshed your cocktail and you can’t risk spilling that tantalizing plate of hors d’oeuvres.

At Sun Health Foundation’s Healthy SUNsations 2012 – “One Hip Party!”  on Saturday, Nov. 10 at Wigwam Arizona, guests won’t experience this maddening predicament. Partygoers can top a competitor’s silent auction bid with a few simple keystrokes, because this year’s Gala has gone high tech, thanks to wireless keypad technology.

It all makes for “One Hip Party!” supporting advancements in orthopedic care and services at Banner Boswell and Banner Del E. Webb medical centers.

“We feel like this is a fun, competitive and convenient way to encourage participation during our silent auction,” said Gina Ore, Sun Health Foundation’s vice president and chief development officer. “Guests will be able to track their bids and the bids of any rivals with the touch of a few keys. That should lead to some spirited competition to kick off the evening!”

In addition to all the high tech, “hip” fun, Healthy SUNsations 2012 – “One Hip Party!” also will include:

  • A gourmet dinner prepared by Wigwam Arizona’s renowned chefs;
  • A brief live auction and program;
  • Entertainment for dinner and dancing provided by C.C. Jones Productions, and;
  • The debut of “One Hip After Party” for the young and young at heart.

Care Continuum Alliance Awards Sun Health National Recognition

I am pleased to announce that the “Sun Health: Innovative Partnerships for Community Health” program presented at the Care Continuum Alliance Forum 12 Annual Education Conference was selected to receive the Outstanding Leadership in Population Health Award. The recognition was one of five awarded at the Conference and was part of the Collaborative Strategies Series.

Jennifer Drago and I presented the unique pathways of population health management provided through the Sun Health Enterprise and reviewed the community-based health and wellness strategy developed in partnership with the local Banner Medical Centers and other care providers. Jennifer impressed the judges with the Care Transitions program results and how the Medication Management program has complemented this important service with its substantial reduction in hospital readmission rates among Medicare age patients.

Forum 12 included 25 peer-reviewed education sessions judged by a group of experts including health care executives, researchers, clinicians and consultants from a variety of health, government and educational backgrounds. The other tracks included: Advancing Wellness, Innovations in Care, Expanding the Evidence and Measuring Value.

Representing more than 200 organizations and individuals, the Care Continuum Alliance (CCA) works collaboratively with stakeholders along the continuum of care to improve the health of populations. Through advocacy, research and education, CCA champions population-based strategies to improve care quality and value, reduce preventable costs and improve quality of life for individuals with chronic conditions.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire Care Transitions team for building and supporting a successful program with superior measurable results.
