More than 60 school-age children received new backpacks filled with school supplies at The Colonnade on July 23. It was the culmination of a month-long SHINE (Sun Health Involvement Never Ends) project to raise funds to purchase backpacks and supplies for children living in foster care homes in Surprise. SHINE (Sun Health Involvement Never Ends) is partnering with OCJ Kids (Opportunity, Community and Justice for Kids) to purchase back packs and school supplies for foster children living in Surprise.
A $20 donation will sponsor a brand new backpack filled with needed school supplies for a foster child. Checks can be made out to the “Sun Health Foundation” and are tax-deductible. Give individually or pool funds with friends or coworkers.

Phoenix charities know that between school, sports, and social, kids these days bounce from activity to activity just as often as we are. When there are so many places to go and people to see, it’s hard to remember to just slow down sometimes, and think about the bigger picture – the important things: helping others.
