As a longtime resident of the West Valley, my involvement in Sun Health Foundation is a natural extension of my day-to-day living and volunteer mission, because I have the opportunity to help chart a course for something our residents both need and richly deserve: quality health care for years to come.
Those of you who are longtime area residents already know this community has had active voices and hands in building Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City and Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West as well as the Banner Sun Health Research Institute. More than 40 years ago, impassioned Sun City residents – understanding the need for excellent patient care in a retirement community – walked door to door to obtain support to make health care in this community happen. Well, happen it did … and look at how it has grown.
With continued financial support from our communities, the hospitals have expanded both in size and technology, rivaling – and often surpassing – care provided in other facilities throughout the nation. Our research institute has a brain bank that is internationally recognized. And all of this started with residents who chose to say “yes” when asked for their assistance.
Now, more than ever, we need to strengthen and advance our local, nonprofit health care programs. Sun Health Foundation’s volunteer board of trustees is here to serve your needs, but we cannot do it alone. For many years, this community has benefited from your support. I hope Sun Health Foundation can continue to count on it – not only for your health, but also for the continued well-being and excellent care of your families, friends and neighbors.
