Specifically we are developing community resources that can enrich the health and wellbeing of area residents – both within our three Sun Health Senior Living communities (The Colonnade in Surprise, Grandview Terrace in Sun City West and La Loma Village in Litchfield Park) – and throughout the West Valley at large.
As part of Sun Health’s mission to champion healthy living, we are proud to offer our newest community health program: the Sun Health Center for Health & Wellbeing. Opening to the public in March, the Center will specialize in providing education and support for those who have been diagnosed with chronic heart and lung conditions, diabetes and pre-diabetes, or a condition causing dementia.
The Center for Health & Wellbeing will provide a place for clients, caregivers and health specialists to collaborate and develop a plan for better health and increased quality of life for each client. The Center ensures clients and family members receive the most up-to-date information and support when learning how to manage chronic health conditions and optimize their health and wellbeing by applying various lifestyle enhancements.
Some of the services that will be available through the Center include:
- Nutrition counseling
- Fitness evaluation and exercise plan development
- Medically supervised weight loss
- Stress reduction programs
- Medication review and education
- Health education classes
- Smoking cessation resources and support
- Assistance in locating community resources.
In addition to these services, a key component to assisting participants in successfully managing their chronic condition is recurrent education. To that end, we are building upon our existing community education programming to offer free classes designed to help Center participants and their families live healthier lives. Our community education series has expanded to include key instructional and hands-on classes designed with your health and wellbeing in mind.
We hope you’ll find this expanded programming helpful and as always, we welcome your input on ways we can continue to improve it to better meet your needs.
Stay tuned in the next few weeks for updates and information about grand opening events and activities planned for the Center for Health & Wellbeing. We look forward to seeing you!
