Sun City Couple Finds Comfort & Support in Sun Health’s New Resource for Alzheimer’s, Dementia Patients & Caregivers

In September 2013 while hospitalized for knee replacement surgery, John O’Donnell received a frightening diagnosis. On top of the Parkinson’s disease he’d been living with for the past 20 years, his doctor diagnosed him with mild dementia.

John and his wife Karen, Sun City residents, were faced with all the standard post-diagnosis questions and looked for help immediately. Karen had the foresight to speak with a social worker at the hospital who directed them to Sun Health’s new Memory Care Navigator program.  Continue reading

Your West Valley: Sun Health Seminar Explores Lung Cancer

A big “thank you” to this week for running a wonderful article about our upcoming Community Education event on lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United  States.

Called “Sun Health Seminar Explores Lung Cancer,” the article shares details of the November 14th event at Banner Boswell Medical Center, where Dr. Biggs of the Arizona Center for Cancer Care will discuss ways to prevent lung cancer, the benefits and risks of screening for lung cancer, and treatment options.

Sun Health Foundation & Faithful Donors Donate $500,000 to Behavioral Health Unit

The Sun Health Foundation, with the help of contributions from faithful donors throughout the West Valley, donated approximately $500,000 for renovations to Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center’s SAGE unit.

SAGE, which stands for Support, Adaptation, Growth, Enrichment, offers one of the few programs in Arizona that treats patients who need simultaneous medical and behavioral health care. Continue reading
