We’re driven to make a positive impact in our community and enhance every life we touch.

Bringing Good To Our Community

Sun Health Foundation is an organization driven by passion. Specifically, a passion to improve the wellbeing of our community and the quality of life of its residents.

While our roster of philanthropic efforts is extensive, we primarily focus on supporting:

  • Banner Boswell Medical Center
  • Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center
  • Banner Sun Health Research Institute
  • Sun Health Wellness, including wellness classes and services open to the community

We’re fortunate to partner with these outstanding organizations and academic institutions that share our mission to champion superior health and wellbeing. These partnerships have resulted in health care advancements, internationally recognized research and innovative community health programs.

Our Banner Health Partnership

In the 1960s, when the first housing and population boom exploded in Phoenix’s West Valley, Sun Health Foundation, then known as Sun City Community Hospital, Inc., was established to bring critical health care resources to our community. Donations from the community funded, built and opened Walter O. Boswell Memorial Hospital in 1970 and Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital in 1988. In 2008, Banner Health acquired both Sun Health hospitals. That’s when our Banner Health partnership was born, and Sun Health Foundation became the exclusive fundraising arm.

Today, we’re honored to continue our partnership with Banner Health and serve as the philanthropic link between the local community and Banner Boswell Medical Center, Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and the Banner Sun Health Research Institute. We believe our partnership is valuable as philanthropy ensures that our community hospitals have the latest medical advancements and sophisticated technologies, as well as specialized care programs and services. We thank Banner Health for their committed partnership throughout the years.

Generosity For Generations: Raising $48 Million In 48 Months

As a part of our Banner Health partnership, Sun Health Foundation is embarking on a comprehensive, four-year fundraising Campaign to help transform and raise the level of superior health care for the growing population in the West Valley. The Campaign is themed Generosity for Generations because of its far-reaching impact not only for today’s residents of our community but for tomorrow’s as well, helping to serve the community’s health, wellness and medical needs for generations to come. The Campaign is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

The Generosity for Generations  Campaign will fund and support the following initiatives.

Emergency Department and Patient Care Transformation: $34 Million

This initiative is designed to provide extraordinary patient and family services for one of the busiest emergency departments in Arizona—Banner Boswell Medical Center. The new emergency department will accommodate nearly 60,000 patient visits annually.

Community Health and Wellness: $2 Million

Spine Health and Orthopedics: $2 Million

With more than 4,700 patients a year receiving surgical care at the center, The Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center will be further developed as a more extensive orthopedic and spine center.

Cancer-Fighting Treatment and Care Advancement: $2 Million

This initiative will support Banner Del E. Webb and Banner Boswell medical centers. Both will receive facility renovations and improvements, and state-of-the-art technology and equipment to better serve cancer patients.

Future Cardiac Initiatives and Cancer-Fighting Treatment and Care Advancement: $6 Million

The frontiers of cardiac and cancer care are always advancing. That means breakthrough technologies and treatments are continually emerging. We’re planning ahead to invest $6 million in anticipated innovations. Nimble leadership is lifesaving leadership.
